This morning, I went to Rosh Hashanah services, led by my friend Isaac, who generously takes me in like a Jewish orphan this time of year, at the UC Berkeley student Hillel. When I was a grad student at Berkeley, I always felt self-conscious in these services, but now, as an old fart who doesn\u2019t really care what 18-year-olds think about her anymore, I absolutely adore them. When is the last time you sat in a room full of young adults, being all earnest-like in their sensible white cardigans (Jews wear white for the new year, why, I don\u2019t know) and the one suit their moms made them to take to college? I had the joy of listening to a person who did not look a day older than twelve, in shiny white platform boots, tell us how much she loved the songs they sang at temple with her grandmother growing up, and how even though her grandmother clucked her tongue at how few of the words she knew, she remembered the melodies, and cherished singing them with us. When we sang the Mi Sheberach, a prayer for healing, and went around and spoke the names of our sick or hurting loved ones, I got to watch a sniffling college student get comforted by another college student in a white, spaghetti-strapped blouse. And I had the rare privilege of having the young person next to me, whose boyfriend was sporting a white button-up collared shirt covered in downhill skiers, compliment my nails, which I will be recalling in moments of feeling culturally irrelevant and uncool for the entire new year. Okay, maybe I do care what eighteen-year-olds think about me.
Lyle Ashton Harris and Renee Valerie Cox worked in collaboration to produce the photographic piece Hottentot Venus 2000. In this piece, Harris photographs Victoria Cox who presents herself as Baartman while wearing large, sculptural, gilded metal breasts and buttocks attached to her body.[39]
sarah's beautiful butt
"Permitted" is an installation piece created by Renée Green inspired by Sarah Baartman. Green created a specific viewing arrangement to investigate the European perception of the black female body as "exotic", "bizarre" and "monstrous". Viewers were prompted to step onto the installed platform which was meant to evoke a stage, where Baartman may have been exhibited. Green recreates the basic setting of Baartman's exhibition. At the centre of the platform, which there is a large image of Baartman, and wooden rulers or slats with an engraved caption by Francis Galton encouraging viewers to measure Baartman's buttocks. In the installation there is also a peephole that allows viewers to see an image of Baartman standing on a crate. According to Willis, the implication of the peephole, demonstrates how ethnographic imagery of the black female form in the 19th century functioned as a form of pornography for Europeans present at Baartmans exhibit.[39]
A big butt is not attractive without a thinner waist. I can understand the attraction but it is off limits to me as I am happily married to my flat bottomed wife so concentrate and enjoy looking at her lovely legs.
big butts can be had artificially and it can be traced to kardashian who had a brazilin butt lift in which all body fat was transferred into her backside. photoshop makes it look somewhat okay but actual photos taken from behind look absolutely hideous. she has contributed nothing but trash to american culture.
So I interviewed 30 Black women from various cities in South Africa and the mid-Atlantic U.S. and asked them about Baartman. Would her image represent a reviled past or a canvas of resilience? Were they proud to bear a similar buttocks or ashamed to share a similar stature?
Extreme body contouring garments went out of style in the early 20th century. Fashion shifted toward loose-fitting clothing, with less focus on the extreme curvature of a corseted form. The 1950s favoured a fuller figure, but still with a large chest, tiny waist, and juicy butt à la pin-up girls like Marilyn Monroe. Styles and so-called body ideals ebbed and flowed through the latter part of the century.
Sawtche, from her real name, was born in 1789 in the Eastern Cape, of modern-day South Africa. Her father was from the Khoikhoi tribe, and her mother came from the Bushmen or San tribe, the oldest tribe in Southern Africa. Women from that tribe are known to have a lighter skin tone, with very developed hips. In the Khoi tribe, it is a sign of beauty, but to Europeans who had never seen it, it was considered a physical deformation or a sign of racial inferiority (not sure how having a flat bum-bum can attest of a race superiority). As a teen, Sawtche was a typical Khoi woman of medium build and light skin tone, and as will be said today, with a big bootie. Even if she was beautiful, no one in her tribe was shocked by her physique given that thousands of women were just as Sawtche.
Weird how today, most women around the world wish for a nice bum-bum, and some are willing to pay thousands to have it protruding, while the beautiful Sarah was exploited, humiliated, raped, for simply being beautiful, the way her Creator had made her.
Yesterday was in the 70s and sunny...today was butt-cold with rime and frost everywhere. We took the skimpy route to the summit (Husband, plus Mom & Dad) enjoyed the views then strolled on down and headed back for Thanksgiving Turkey leftovers. :) Cold, wet, chilled-to-the-bone type of day. Still decent views available due to the mowed summit area.
"Hiked" up from the parking area just below the summit. Was not in the area for long so did not seek other options. It was perfect for my 4 and 2-year old companions though. The views from the top were breathtaking. The foliage was beautiful.
Emily, Brittany and Skylar have been friends since college and made a vow to help each other if they were ever in trouble. Their sanctuary when life gets tough is Castaway Cottage on beautiful Puffin Island, Maine.
And not only was Emily vulnerable, but there were still things about him she didn't know. Things that made it more likely she'd push him out of her house than invite him to kiss her. There was no way he was leaving her without support, and not just because Brittany would fire an arrow into his butt.
You may remember Sarah Dumont as "Sequins' in the movie Don Jon--you know, the one at the club with the nice butt who wasn't ScarJo. But even though it was her posterior that initially caught our attention, frankly, we'd be down to just hang out. 2ff7e9595c
